Studia Sociologia has been published since 1990, as one of the first social sciences journals in post-socialist Romania. It tries to offer space for academic debates on social issues related to Central and Eastern Europe, welcoming multidisciplinary approaches and comparative studies.
The journal has two issues per year, in June and December; starting from 2008 all articles are written in English. The manuscripts submitted to the editorial board go through a double-blind peer review process, and prospective authors have the possibility to revise and resubmit their papers.
Studia Sociologia was classified as B+ by the National Research Council CNCSIS. Besides the printed copies of the journal, the articles are available in several on-line databases, most notably:
ERIH PLUS (European Reference Index for the Humanities and Social Sciences), EBSCO (relevant databases), EBSCO Discovery Service, Elsevier – SCOPUS, Summon (Serials Solutions/ProQuest), CEEOL - Central and Eastern European Online Library, Celdes, CNKI Scholar (China National Knowledge Infrastructure), CNPIEC, J-Gate, Naviga (Softweco), Primo Central (ExLibris), ReadCube, TDOne (TDNet), WorldCat (OCLC)
Starting with 2010, the journal became open-access and issues can be downloaded free-of-charge on its web-page:
