Anca Simionca has worked in the Sociology Department since 2012, and in 2024, she was named Dean. In 2012 she graduated from Central European University in Budapest with a PhD in sociology and social anthropology, her thesis titled "Critical engagements with and within capitalism. Middle management following socialism”. As a researcher she is interested in organizations, work and social criticism. As a teacher, in addition to sharing knowledge and information with her students, she aims to spark within them a true curiosity about the nature of reality and to foster their passion for creating a more equitable world for everyone. As dean, she faces all the organizational difficulties that she researches in other contexts, and about which she teaches.
