Social Service Management

The Master’s Degree in Social Services Management aims to be a leading intersectoral professional program that provides high-quality education, professional training, research, and consultancy with an emphasis on the needs of communities (at local, national, and international levels), individuals and legal entities that provide social services (freelancers, public institutions, and non-governmental organizations). The Master’s program promotes quality, integrity, equity, innovation, and ongoing development in all of its operations. The qualification in social services management is valued in the current legislation on quality assurance in the field of social services. For its accreditation, the public or private social service provider must demonstrate that it has qualified personnel in social services management. The program is designed to support master’s students in their work activities and is based on their own experiences, being related to the issues they face as employees. The study program provides flexible options, through optional subject packages for those who are following or preparing to follow a career in the management of social, socio-educational and socio-medical services in the public, non-governmental and independent sectors – of free practice and authorized individuals. The master’s degree is addressed to higher education graduates from all fields.

Objectives

  • disseminating information required for a critical comprehension of management theory and practice, as well as how they are integrated in modern social and socio-medical services;
  • acquiring knowledge on the functioning of organizations and institutions and on the manager’s ability to influence organizational/institutional processes;
  • reexamining the value base in the provision of social and socio-medical services and how they are applied in managerial roles;
  • acquiring the principles of quality and efficient management in the provision of social and socio-medical services;
  • broadening the horizon of understanding social and socio-medical services through comparative studies.

  • analysis and evaluation of the functioning of organizations, institutions and communities;
  • innovative use of research methods in solving critical management problems;
  • use of ethics, values, and expertise in social work practice with a variety of communities, organizations, and groups;
  • use of intervention strategies and skills with work groups, organizations and communities;
  • skills in evaluating results and completing the social work process with work groups, organizations and communities;
  • knowledge of the innovation process in social services.
