Dr. Csaba L. Dégi is a full professor with habilitation and a researcher at the Babeș-Bolyai University, Faculty of Sociology and Social Work in Cluj Napoca, Romania. He is a licensed principal social worker with a private practice. Dr. Dégi earned bachelor's and master's degrees in social work, as well as a PhD in medical psychology. He holds the distinction of being the first ombuds at the Babeș-Bolyai University, a member of ENOHE. He is an evaluator member of the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education, in the ARACIS register for Social, Political and Communication Sciences. He is the coordinator of the Biomedical Ethics/Social Medicine and Health section within the Postgraduate Program of Bio-Behavioral Integrative Medicine (UBBMed) and a member of the Coordinating Board of the Center for Advanced Research and Comprehensive Approach to Cancer within UBB. He was also a member of the Research Commission of the National College of Social Workers in Romania. 

Dr. Dégi L. Csaba is a leading figure in psychosocial oncology. He is the president of the European Cancer Organization (ECO) in Brussels, advocating for psychosocial oncology care across Europe and beyond, executive secretary of the International Psycho-Oncology Society (IPOS) and a past member of the Board of Directors. In 2016, the Romanian Ministry of Health appointed him as a single member of the Committee for Social Work and Support in Oncology. Since 2001, he has been leading the APSCO® research project -www.psychooncology.ro - and is the president of the Association for Services and Communication in Oncology, affiliated with the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work at Babeș-Bolyai University. He developed a cancer distress screening app and has a wealth of original publications to his name. He has been featured in various publications, including Cancer Letter, Cancer World, and Politico.
