Abstract
Global crises don’t stop at borders – they reshape the everyday realities of local communities. This lecture, inspired by Pentaris and Walker’s thesis on glocalisation and Glocal Social Work, explores how neoliberalism, global crises, conflict, disasters, and managerialism converge to redefine social work and allied practice. By tracing the ripple effects of global policies and pressures on local wellbeing, the talk argues for a reimagined, context-sensitive approach to social work – one that resists reductionist metrics and places equity, justice, and human dignity at the centre of professional practice.
