Join us for an enlightening event where we delve into the captivating topic of mapping / reading the palimpsest beyond the human perspective. The event will feature Iulia Hurducaș, PhD candidate at the Sheffield School of Architecture, University of Sheffield, UK, who will share her insightful research on the forested landscape of the Vișeu Valley in northern Romania.
In her thesis, “Urbanised Forested Landscape: Urbanisation, Timber Extraction, and Forest Care on the Vișeu Valley, Northern Romania,” Iulia challenges the conventional capitalist-colonial paradigm and explores urbanisation processes that extend beyond traditional urban boundaries. By reimagining the forest as an integral part of our shared world, rather than an external space disconnected from the city, she invites us to reconsider our relationship with nature and the environment.
