Book launch: Balázs, Zsuzsanna – Pető, Andrea (2025): Viktor Orbán’s Affairs with Women. The plan and impact of illiberal gender politics. Occasioned by the new book: Orbán Viktor nőügyei. Az illiberális genderpolitika müködése és hatásai.

Outline: The book offers a popular but comprehensive analysis of the impact of Viktor Orbán’s illiberal policies on human and gender rights. It provides an accessible introduction to how these policies impact women, presenting how the government has co-opted and eroded national and international anti-discrimination and equality provisions, thereby creating an alternative to liberal values. Moreover, the book analyses the reasons behind the decision of women to cast their votes in favour of an illiberal government that discriminates against and impoverishes them. As the gender policies by the Orbán government gain attention internationally, this book serves as a cautionary tale for those concerned about human rights globally.
