Mircea Comșa are peste 25 de ani de experiență în cercetarea socială, în echipe naționale și internaționale din sectorul academic și privat. Interesele de cercetare și predare sunt: metodologia anchetei sociologice, designul cercetării sociale, studiile electorale, analiza statistică și data mining. Este sau a fost membru în echipele de cercetare: Barometrul de Opinie Publică – BOP (Fundația pentru o Societate Deschisă, 1998-2008), Studii Electorale Românești (2009-2016), World / European Values Survey – WVS / EVS (echipa din România, din 1999) și Comparative Study of Electoral Systems – CSES (valurile 3-5).
