Inspire Research Series @ FSAS 31.03.2026

On March 31, at 11:00, at FSAS (Spatele Amfiteatrului), we had the pleasure of hosting a truly remarkable session within the Inspire Research Series, titled Participatory and Collaborative Methods in Anthropological Research: Vulnerability, Participation, and Co-Produced Knowledge. Neda Deneva delivered a presentation that was not only engaging but also deeply innovative from both a methodological and epistemic perspective. The talk foregrounded participatory and collaborative research as a critical alternative to traditional models, highlighting how vulnerability, reflexivity, and emotional engagement can become powerful resources for knowledge production. At the same time, the discussion critically addressed both the potential and the limits of these approaches. Drawing on two research projects in which she applied these methods, Neda offered not only theoretical insights but a compelling example of theory in motion. Through rich empirical examples and reflections, the presentation showed how closer researcher–participant relationships can generate forms of “embodied objectivity” and open new avenues of understanding, making the session genuinely inspiring. We are deeply grateful to Neda for this inspiring and thought-provoking contribution.
