Call for papers – The future of Social Work in Motion: Advocacy, Action and Transformation

Hello future agents of change!

We are thrilled to announce the upcoming Student Conference of our faculty, organized by the Department of Social Work: ”The Future of Social Work in Motion: Advocacy, Action and Transformation’’.

Social work is never unchanging; it is a profession defined by constant evolution. Today, the challenges we are facingrequire more than just observation, they demand advocacy for the people who are marginalized, concrete and decisive action in volatile situations, and the power to drive social change tobroken systems.

As students, you are the architects of this evolution. If you are a social work student and an aspiring practitioner, this conference is your chance to present fresh perspectives, advocate for innovative ideas, and develop the essential communication skills for a successful career in the social sciences.

 Recommended Topics:

1. Diversity in Contemporary Society: Exploring LGBTQ+ studies, cultural competence, and ethnic studies.

2. Human Rights & Intersectionality: Women’s and children’s rights, fighting discrimination, and ensuring access to mental health.

3. Gerontology: Addressing the challenges and opportunities of an aging population.

4. Deviance, Justice, and Criminality: Analyzing bullying/cyberbullying, substance abuse, and pathways to rehabilitation and social reintegration.

5. A Society in Crisis: Navigating migration, climate change, humanitarian aid in conflicts, digital challenges, and socio-economic deprivation.

6. Adaptive Competencies: Developing the tools needed for social work in volatile and unpredictable contexts.

7. Resilient Competencies: Strengthening modern social work practice through coping mechanisms and professional resilience.

Please keep in mind that while we’ve highlighted these core themes, this list is meant to be a springboard, not a boundary. Social work is a vast and ever-evolving field, so if you have a fresh perspective or a unique research topic that fits our „In Motion” theme, even if it isn’t explicitly mentioned above, we absolutely want to see it. Consider this list short but not limitative; we can’t wait to be surprised by your innovative ideas!
