Social work and social economy

The fundamental concept of this master’s program is the specialization in the socio-economic field, based on the particularities of social work. The basic idea is to transpose the specialized knowledge of the economic-administrative field into the practice of non-profit organizations and social work activity in general. This specialization is all the more relevant in the Romanian context, as the social economy sector is underdeveloped. The program is interdisciplinary and it is addressed to of social work, economic sciences, sociology, legal sciences, political and administrative sciences, communication sciences graduates, but also to specialists already in the social work system. It is carried out in collaboration with higher education institutions from the European Union: University of Applied Sciences- FH Campus Wien, University of Applied Sciences, Munich, Debrecen University, Ostrava University, Trnava University, Katowice University (the faculty having the status of mobility partner in the Joint Degree Programm Social Work and Social Economy). Social economy contributes to the social and labour market inclusion of disadvantaged groups and to the promotion of equal opportunities, boosts sustainable economic and industrial development, promotes the active participation of citizens in the development of the communities to which they belong, plays an important role in social protection systems. Social economy, through social insertion enterprises, complements the action of the Member States of the European Union to provide quality social services in a cost-effective way, to integrate young people and disadvantaged groups (e.g. people with disabilities, the elderly, the long-term unemployed, migrants, people with racial or ethnic minority origins (especially Roma), single parents) into the labour market and society, and last but not least, contributes to improving gender equality.
